What is Intarsia??

Intarsia "paintings" are wood mosaics made from various thicknesses of different colored woods and shapes to create an image. The different thicknesses provide shadows which, in effect, add depth to the image thus creating a third dimension. No artificial stains are used and the protective sealer applied to the wood lets the natural color of the wood show through. The intarsia paintings are mounted in solid walnut frames which have screw eyes and wire on the back for easy fastening. .

Some of these "paintings" have over 280 different pieces of wood in them. Piecing these different shapes of wood, with different grain, color and texture, make up these beautiful wood mosaics. All are available for purchase.
